CO State Hwy 9 Safety Project – Media Coverage
2016 was a big year for the CO State Hwy 9 Safety Project, including state-wide recognition, some exciting early results from the monitoring program, as well as the completion of the second phase of construction.
The last couple of years have also seen a lot of media coverage of the project, as word of its success and innovative approach to planning began to spread through the wildlife conservation community. The project was mentioned or featured in Sierra Club Magazine, 5280 Magazine, Inside Philanthropy, and Medium.
The most recent media coverage was an article in the March issue of Bugle Magazine (see “Fresh Tracks” download below), the bimonthly publication of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. The article highlighted the impact of the project on local wildlife populations as well as the economic impact of wildlife-vehicle collisions in the state of Colorado.
Special thanks to Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation for the article download!
