Eagle’s Nest
The 13,432-ft Eagles Nest Peak has long been an icon for residents and visitors alike in both Grand and Summit Counties. It’s rugged, snow covered slopes make it very photogenic, and its prominence on Blue Valley Ranch’s southern skyline makes it a dominant feature in many photographs. Here is a sampling of some recent photos taken over the past month.
Eagles Nest is the northern-most 13,000 foot peak in the Gore Range, and due to its remote location in the Eagles Nest Wilderness is climbed much less frequently than many of the 14’ers in the area. It is also called the “Sleeping Indian” by many locals, due to its resemblance to a reclining Native American wearing a war bonnet.
